Your ship turns around, and you take a more circuitous path. You spend the rest of your life wondering if you could have heard the sirens’ fabled song.

Along the way, you develop another fear. On necessary stops to resupply your vessel, you visit other islands and suffer through many other misadventures including ogres, witches, and sentient scrollclips. When your diminished crew eventually arrives home seven years later, you shudder to think how much faster it could have gone had you instead braved the sirens’ water.

In your absence, your wife assumed you dead and eventually remarried. Your children do not remember you. They visit you infrequently, more out of duty than true affection.

You survived, but you live out the rest of your life as a stranger in your homeland. The End.

Victory?

Perhaps another path will let you survive The Siren’s Symphony.
